PHILIP DA COSTA

ARTICLING STUDENT

Philip is returning to LHC Family Law as an Articling Student, having previously spent his 2L summer with the firm. He is excited to develop his practice in family law alongside a team that shares his client-focused values and commitment to practical, compassionate advocacy.

Philip recently completed his Juris Doctor at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, where he focused his studies on family law and dispute resolution. He completed courses in Family Law, Advanced Family Law, Aboriginal Child Welfare, and Negotiation. He was awarded the Michelle McKelvey Award in Family Law for academic excellence and commitment to social justice.

Philip holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto. During law school, he was a student volunteer and project leader with the Queen’s Law Chapter of Pro Bono Students Canada. He co-authored an advocacy letter for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and helped develop public legal education materials on the family justice system for the Sudbury Women’s Centre. During his studies, he worked at the Queen’s Elder Law Clinic and the Queen’s Family Law Clinic.
